I love the new yahoo mail - September 18, 2009

I love it! Slicker, faster, and more integrated with the rest of Yahoo.

Now only if Yahoo actually made similar progress on their Calendar tool, I'd be in love with them even more.

I've always thought that Yahoo kicks google's ass when it comes to mail. Gmail is the most confusing email client I've seen. The only  thing it does better than Yahoo mail is faster results on maibox searches. But yahoo takes just a few fractions of a second longer and I can live with that. Their mail folders, automatically moving emails to folders by clicking numbers on the keyboard, just well organized email lists, easy flagging, unlimited email and RELIABILITY (it's hardly ever down in the 10 years that I've had it) just is awesome. Having maintained exchange servers for clients, I can imagine how hard it must be to pull off an email service like that for 100  million users. Yahoo, your email rocks!

And I am not the only one that thinks that - statistics point to the fact that a LOT more people use Yahoo mail compared to Gmail.

New Yahoo vs Gmail
written by Naren, September 28, 2009
I've been pretty happy with yahoo mail too. At the same time, I believe that gmail has powerful email tagging capability too, and I love the way conversations are kept together and highly intuitive navigation. Labels in gmail provide the tagging into folders - and the filter set is more powerful than yahoo - and gmail does a better job with spam as well. But my opinion is that of a lay user (email volume 20-50/day. I was a beta tester for the new yahoo email and they have a good product now, but need to still improve uniformity of experience across multiple components - try going to different sections within yahoo mail and they are still implementing to completion. But - on stability of platform - hats off to yahoo! No problems since 1998. And it has been my primary email for more than 10 years/
