Page Rank 3 within one month of website launch

I recently launched a website about the issues that legal immigrants face in the United States. Being a legal immigrant myself, I am very closely associated with this area and this is more of a personal website than something that I am looking to make money with.
The website is at http://www.endlesswait.com.
I launched the website on September 4. On September 28, I noticed that page rank of the home page went from 0 to 3. That's the fastest that any of my sites has ever gone up in rankings. Page rank 3 is not too hard to achieve with Google, but neither is it too easy. I've known websites that are live for years, do professional backlink building for months, but never got their PR past 2.
So what did I do to get this blog to PR 3? Actually, nothing special.
- I just wrote posts almost every day. I really felt passionately about this topic, so any other legal immigrant in the US waiting for their Green Card should have benifited from the information. All of the content was either original analysis of issues or opinions about current events.
- I participated in some other relevant blogs and forums which I used to do anyway, even before I launched the site. I must have probably made some 10-15 comments on other blogs.
- I used a clean, good looking theme. I submitted the sitemaps to Google automatically and made sure that I am enrolled with Webmaster Tools.
That's it. Even more amazing is that I got 1500 unique visitors and 25 signups already, less than a month since the website launched. Just goes to show that useful content that you truly want to blog about is THE way to go. This blog is also another such effort, though I haven't seen nearly the kind of results here that I have at endlesswait.com.
